With the i-ROAD, an application is now being used to “visualize” the charge status of the vehicle’s regenerative brakes. With that system engineered to provide an instant grasp of the recharging level through the use of regenerated energy, the i-ROAD driving experienced is rendered far more fun and relaxed.
Driving around the city, in other words, generating electricity, consuming that power, and then producing more of it.
Reaching for the strength of innovative ideas, the i-ROAD continues to address the critical need to expand the cruising distance of today’s electric vehicles.

Regenerative Brake Mechanism

Besides powering the units down the road, the motors mounted on electric vehicles also act as generators for turning out electric power. “Regenerative brakes” put such motors to effective use, adopting a mechanism designed to enable recycling of electricity generated when decelerating to further power the vehicle when the driver is ready to pick up speed. This basic function is certainly not limited to the i-ROAD. It has come to be a key part of all electric vehicles being developed. Ideas to Enhance Fuel Economy

The goal here is to extend the driving range of electric vehicles. In pursuit of that objective,
just what initiatives are being perfected to fit the unique i-ROAD mode?
In this case, we’re not talking about construction of charging stations around the city,
or adding further functions to vehicles themselves.
What we came up with in this quest, rather, was the “Regenerative Brake App.” In no uncertain terms,
this breakthrough is the result of our search for smarter and more enjoyable
means of getting the job done – and doing it right.
Transforming how vehicles are operated, that is, holds the key to longer cruising distance.
In this way, we continue to mobilize the i-ROAD to create a brighter and more convenient future.
Not so much through functions, however, as on the power of innovative new ideas and services.
